What is Honey?

Honey collection is an ancient activity. A Mesolithic rock painting in a cave in Valencia, Spain, dating back at least 8,000 years, depicts two honey foragers collecting honey and honeycomb from a wild bees' nest. The figures are depicted carrying baskets or gourds, and using a ladder or series of ropes to reach the nest.

Humans followed the greater honey guide bird to wild beehives; this behavior may have evolved with early hominids. The oldest known honey remains were found in Georgia during the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline: archaeologists found honey remains on the inner surface of clay vessels unearthed in an ancient tomb, dating back between 4,700 and 5,500 years.

In ancient Greece, honey was produced from the Archaic to the Hellenistic periods. In 594 BC beekeeping around Athens was so widespread that Solon passed a law about it: "He who sets up hives of bees must put those 300 feet [90 meters] away from those already installed by another".

Greek archaeological excavations of pottery located ancient hives.  In ancient Greek religion, the Food of Zeus and the twelve Gods of Olympus was honey in the form of nectar and ambrosia.

In Hinduism, Honey (Madhu) is one of the five elixirs of life (Panchamrita). In temples, Honey is poured over the deities in a ritual called Madhu abhisheka. The Vedas and other ancient literature mention the use of honey as a great medicinal and health food.

In Buddhism, Honey plays an important role in the festival of Madhu Purnima, celebrated in India and Bangladesh. The day commemorates Buddha's making peace among his disciples by retreating into the wilderness.

According to legend, while he was there a monkey brought him Honey to eat. On Madhu Purnima, Buddhists remember this act by giving Honey to monks. The monkey's gift is frequently depicted in Buddhist art.

The Christian New Testament says that John the Baptist lived for a long of time in the wilderness on a diet of Locusts and Honey.

Some Historians say even the Manna given from God raining from Heaven as survival bread to the traveling Israelites in the desert was basically Honey Seed.

Honey stands for everything that is sweet in human life. That makes things better and even we call our Loved Ones Hello Honey.

In Vietnam Honey belongs to the Gods and they give this present to the collectors in the wide jungles of the Vietnamese Mountains and even in the Mangroves of the Mekong Delta.

Why Vietnam Honey is so special?

Hunting for Honey in Vietnam's jungles. Tiem is an ethnic Katu whose Tribes cultural history dated back 3000 years. He lives in Thuong Quang Commune, Nam Dong District, and the central province of Thua Thien Hue.

Tiem has been collecting Honey in the jungle for 40 years to earn a living and to feed his family. To find bee hives, Tiem has to go on strenuous treks.

Many of the over 100 Mountain Tribes in Vietnam collect Honey and this nectar is holy to them like the Ba Na Tribe or the Muong.

These Honeys are special in their taste and very natural – no ever additives or anything is mixed with them. They are Native Nature Honey the best Mother Nature can give you as a kiss of sweetness from the wide jungles of Vietnam.

These often nomad living Natives are not farmers but collectors of Honey sources who take the gift from God from the deepest ends of the jungle and travel miles and miles to collect it from the Bee Hives or from the Trees here the Bees built their nests.

Vietnamese Bees have a huge collection of the most beautiful flowers and fruit to suck their nectar from – Flowers even from the Coffee Plantation ending up as Coffee Honey very strong in  taste or from the Rambutan and the Longan Flowers. Even Leaf Honey from Rubber Plantations are collected in Vietnam.

In springtime the new Honey Harvest is in. In the few weeks at the beginning of the Year before Vietnam celebrates its Lunar New year the Honey Producer and Experts VietThanh go to the mountains to inspect and collect the new Harvest from the Natives and brings them to their processing plants.  Only the best of the best qualities are accepted. Pure, mild, shiny, sweet and clean Honey that had been collected directly from Mother Natures own Bosom.

It is always a great Festival Day in the Mountains when the new Harvest is in and everyone is happy with the result. The Gods gave their gift to the Mountain Tribes who make a living of that sweet harvest and put all their pride into it.
